Since we're on the subject of sounds, have you changed any of the melee impact material sounds so far or are they the same vanilla sounds?

Well, for the most part i am but that doesn't mean i wont want to check back every so often and see how things are going here in the community. This was the first forum i was ever a part of, how could i just ditch it completely?:) Masterz had me beta test for a while a few months back but with school and then college i couldn't really stay ontop of that.
I dont get on live much since i dont have a xbox, but i will be getting the xbox one eventually for destiny:) Edited by The Barron on Sep 30, 2013 at 02:56 PM

friggin' finally, and that looks nice btw, can't wait to get my hands on it and post-shader the shift out of it. also masters, think we can at least address the issue of suppressed weapons some time, if u like my suggestions i think i could even help u to make it so that the normal, and suppressed variants function differently, but are still balanced. (expanding the player's tactical options, gameplay, and UNSC arsenal)

Also new marines are in the works, and are very close to being done!

aim for midtones in terms of environment textures; as it stands, the trees blend into the ground and cliffs and shapes are hard to define. let the shadows and lighting define the environment's shapes. since OS only applies highlights and no real shading, you should make diffuse colors on shiny things darker with baked-in AO to compensate for the lack of shadows. the bright shadowless models combined with the dark contrasted environment destroy any semblance of lighting whatsoever.

@masternoob, the environment is likely staying that way. The forerunner structure shaders from B30 will all be brought over to the rest of SPV3 when they are done though.
@RC, already been done. It annoys the crap out of my cat so I had to change it.
@waffles it's being done, btw I need to talk to you on xfire.

Kinda is a personal opinion if you think about it not really, that kind of level design is spread throughout the entire vanilla campaign. for example, the first level used desaturated colors and mid-tone greys to contrast against the covenant's brightly colored armor and the marine's dark-brown plates. the weapons have high-contrast colors to stand out on all levels, and shapes are defined by the lighting. on the library level, the design is, again, desaturated blue to contrast against the glowing green enemies and the light grey allies. last level uses desaturated tan with dark ambiance to make all character models darker than the light fog to make them stand out. basic level design.

I'd personally be thankful that these people are so committed to doing what they do.
You have to learn the entire process of making a map in max, and suffer through the finicky nature of Tool and the HEK, and even opensauce, before you can really truly understand what these people go through to bring you guys what they bring you.
It's quite a feat.
Looking for a good challenge? Pick up max and start learning the ropes. Too expensive? Get gmax (Added challenge!) or get the student edition of 3ds. We're here to help with the tool's hissy fits, but only you can decide to do something.
